The Harriet and Joe Foster Family YMCA
2010 Partners Campaign

For 124 years, the YMCA of Greater Houston has embraced the balanced strength of spirit, mind
and body. With you as our Partner we can build strong kids, strong families and strong
communities.
The campaign raises money to keep program fees low and provide direct scholarships for
children, families and adults who could not otherwise participate.

(formerly The Northwest YMCA).


Strong Kids

  • In YMCA Youth Sports, everyone plays and everyone wins. 1,900 kidsparticipated in YMCA soccer, baseball, volleyball, basketball, flag football and sports camp, 4% of our campaign dollars goes for Youth Sport subsidies.
  • 4,100 children built a lifetime of memories during summer and holiday camps atthe Harriet and Joe Foster Family YMCA. Over 300 received scholarships totaling $43,500
  • Aquatics programs save lives by teaching children lifetime skills. The FosterFamily YMCA served 1,047 children, in which 3% of the Foster Family YMCA Campaign dollars subsidize Aquatics programs.
  • Informal Education programs such as Tumbling, Karate, Dance, Tiny Tots
  • Classes and Parent –Child Classes. 343 children participated and 33% received financial assistance this year.

Strong Families

  • 285 children are served each day at one of the Foster Family YMCA 6 afterschool child care sites. 43% of children and families received financial assistance during the school year.
  • The Foster Family YMCA also serves 2 Outreach sites in our community. RanchoVerde and La Casita Caring Community Apartments have a YMCA clubhouse tserve 600 children and families that are financially unable to participate in our programs. Generous Partners donations allow us to subsidize all of the programs offered at each site.

Strong Communities

  • We have 7 partnerships with other agencies, schools, businesses and churches.
  • We have over 200 individuals that volunteer for the Foster Family YMCA.
  • Charitable scholarships and program subsidies reach a new high – over $378,000in 2007. This was funded by our center via Partner Campaign contributions,United Way Contributions, Branch Assistance Funds, Diamond Ridge Apartments, 21st Century Case Grant.
  • 25 + volunteers will assist Foster Family YMCA with this campaign.

YMCA Mission: To put Judeo-Christian Principles in to practice through programs that build healthy
spirit, mind and body for all.
Financial Assistance is granted for those who substantiate a need.
